How We Used To Live

How We Used To Live is a film by Paul Kelly created using rare footage drawn from the British Film Institute’s National Archive and original music by Saint Etienne with a narration by Ian McShane.

John Grindrod over on the blog Dirty Modern Scoundrel calls it

…a kind of melancholy nostalgia for the recent past, from defunct musical genres to lost urban landscapes.

Looks like a must view to me. Its on a limited theatrical release before a DVD release next year.

The soundtrack by Saint Etienne is also available.
