This came to mind after a clip of the Small Faces performing “Song of the Baker” was shown on the BBC programme Psychedelia Britannia . The full performance was shown on the accompanying “Psychedelia at the BBC” programme. This contained a strange collection of “psychedelic” bands and the Small Faces were easily the stand out performers.

This was yet another purchase from the bargain bin in the David Evans department store in Cwmbran. The A side is well-known, with great back up vocals from the marvellous P P Arnold. However the B side has always been a favourite of mine with its chirpy electric piano refrain.

And here’s that clip of “Song of the Baker” taken from the 1968 “Colour Me Pop” programme.
