monday photo: great gable and the scafells

info: canon powershot A710 is 1/250 @ f7.1

A day spent walking the High Crag – High Stile – Red Pike ridge from Buttermere in September 2008. The photo was taken from High Crag looking south east across the Ennerdale valley. Windy Gap can clearly be seen as the notch on the left skyline between Green Gable and Great Gable with Scafell Pike and Scafell in the far distance.

In his “The Western Fells” Alfred Wainwright writes.

” This is the best place for viewing the head of Ennerdale. Backed by Great Gable and overtopped by the Scafells, here is a splendid mountain landscape.”

Technically you can see the limits of this compact camera as the sky is partly “blown out” and not really recoverable.
