This page is a repository for the newspaper clippings and photographs I have of the choir during the years of the late sixties.
The choirs major achievement was appearing on “Opportunity Knocks!”, a popular talent show of the day. I had forgotten when it was exactly, but IMDB had all the details of the show from January 1969.
This led to another television appearance with the jazz band we had met on the programme.
We also appeared on a Cliff Morgan show for BBC Wales but I don’t think any photos exist of that performance.
Cwmbran was twinned with Bruchsal a town in Germany and we took part in an exchange visit to the town in the summer of 1969.
On the crossing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland.
We then went by sleeper train to Bruchsal a fantastic journey across europe.
The town had planned a very full itinerary!
We visited a lot of castles. Here’s Anne Brown (Hewkins), the choir leader and school music teacher with Martin at the top of one of the castles.
We took part in all sorts of concerts and events. Heres a few.
And we also made a record!
